THE DATA WE COLLECT

We will collect the following data from you when you register your pet with our practice:

Name

Address

Telephone Number

Email Address

 

HOW WE COLLECT YOUR DATA

This data will be collected directly from you when you register a pet with our practice, either in person or by phone, post or email. Please keep us up to date with any changes to the data we hold about you, for example, if you move house.

 

HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

We will use your data to allow us to fulfil our contract of providing veterinary services to your pet. This will include contacting you to discuss your pet’s treatment, posting out invoices and statements, or in relation to the financial management of your account. We may also use your data to send reminders for vaccinations and flea and worm treatment on the basis that this is of a legitimate interest for the health and wellbeing of your pet.

 

SHARING YOUR DATA

We may share your data with other organisations so that we can effectively deliver our range of veterinary services to you. Most commonly this is for the following purposes:

 

·        Laboratories – we will provide your name in order to allow the lab to identify samples from your pet.

·        Referral Veterinary Practices – we will provide the necessary information to allow the referral practice to provide their services to your pet. This will include your name, address, contact information and the full history of your pet.

·        Insurance Companies – we are legally obliged to provide all personal information that your insurance company requests.

·        Other Veterinary Practices – if you move to a new veterinary practice we are obligated by the RCVS to provide details of your pets clinical history to your new practice. This information is required to ensure the best treatment of your pet. We will obtain your consent before transferring the record.

·        Pet Crematoria – we will provide your name and address in order that your pet’s remains are treated in accordance with your wishes.

 

We will restrict the data that we share to only that which is strictly necessary for any of the above purposes.

 

HOW WE STORE YOUR DATA

Your data is stored within the EEA (European Economic Area) and is subject to all the rights and processing restrictions of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

 

HOW LONG WILL WE KEEP YOUR DATA

We will keep your data for as long as you remain a client of ours and as long as is necessary to satisfy our legal, accounting and reporting requirements.


YOUR DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

 

Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

 

Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

 

Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

 

Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

 

Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

 

Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
